Temazepam 30 mg
Temazepam 30 mg is a benzodiazepine used short term to treat insomnia (trouble falling or staying asleep). The medication can take about 1 to 2 hours to work, and it’s generally only used for 7 to 10 days.
Dosing information
Usual Adult Dose for Insomnia:
7.5 to 30 mg orally once a day at bedtime
Comments:
-In transient insomnia, a 7.5 mg dose may be sufficient to improve sleep latency.
-In elderly or debilitated patients, therapy should be initiated at 7.5 mg until individual responses are determined.
Use: Short-term treatment of insomnia (generally 7 to 10 days)
Taking temazepam (Restoril) with opioid medications can cause severe (serious) drowsiness, tiredness, and difficulty breathing and can even result in death. If it’s absolutely necessary for you to take an opioid medication, discuss with your provider to make sure the combination is as safe as possible or if other medication options are available.
Typical dosing for temazepam 30 mg
- Adults: The recommended dose is 15 mg by mouth once daily at bedtime. Your provider will work with you to find the right dose for you; some people can require 7.5 mg or 30 mg doses.
- Older adults (age 65 or older): The typical starting dose is 7.5 mg by mouth once daily at bedtime.
